Wichita, KS – June 22, 2017 — The Wichita chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA Wichita) named Andy McFayden, Director of Marketing and Community Outreach at Wichita Area Technical College, the 2017 Marketer of the Year at today’s annual awards luncheon.
Earlier in the week McFayden was named the non-profit category winner. Other category winners include: Jessica Pianalto of PetroChoice (Corporate), Jeremy Luginbill of Lifeboat Creative (Agency), and the team at VIP Wichita Magazine (Media).
Awards for outstanding marketing work were presented in the following categories:
Corporate Marketing
Gold to Howerton+White for “TRU-BUILDING Integrated Identity”; and Silver to Howerton+White for “PetroChoice Corporate and Product Branding.”
Non-Profit Marketing
Gold to Wichita Area Technical College for their work with Wichita Promise; and Silver to Heartspring for the campaign, “Expanding Possibilities.”
Promotion/Event Marketing
Gold to Jajo for the “Great Futures Benefit Concert” marketing; and Silver to Howerton+White for “INTRUST Bank Arena’s Artist Poster Series.”
Integrated Ad Campaigns
Gold to Apples and Arrows for “2016 Visit Wichita Leisure Campaign”; and Silver to Wichita Area Chamber of Commerce for “Leadership Wichita Nominations.”
Digital Advertising
Gold to Apples and Arrows for “2016 Visit Wichita Campaign”; and Silver to Howerton+White for “Spirit AeroSystems Business Development App.”
Video Marketing
Gold to Wichita Area Technical College with Intake Studios for the “2016-2017 School Year Commercial”; and Silver to Professional Engineering Consultants for the “PEC Holiday Video.”
Judging and Event Details
Marketer of the Year nominations and marketing award entries were judged by a panel of previous Wichita Marketer of the Year winners, including Justin McClure, Beth Golay, Kasey Baker, Katie Grover, Jennifer Worrell Strong, Christina Bluml, and Dom Gauana.
The luncheon featured guest speaker Russ Klein, CEO of the American Marketing Association, who presented insight into the rapidly changing role of marketing.
The event marked the official debut of the new AMA Wichita brand, reflecting the national AMA’s position as “the essential community for marketers.”
The following departing AMA Wichita board members were honored, all for multiple years of volunteer service with the organization: Dusty Buell, Angela Cato, Miranda Lumurno and Cristy Tran.
A VIP Cocktail Reception is planned for 5 p.m., hosted and sponsored by Copp Media. AMA Wichita is donating all proceeds from the reception to Envision’s Child Development Center.
